When you have rheumatoid arthritis the best treadmill is one that is made for walking. You are not likely going to be running and jogging or needing a lot of fancy workout programs. So in my opinion, why waste the extra money on bells and whistles you won’t be using.
What you might need though is something like extended handrails. I found a couple of very nice models with those. Personally, what I would focus on is something to keep me entertained. LOL I get bored easily when it comes to exercising so some nice speakers would be great so I could listen to music. Or even better is the model below that has a desk where you can put a laptop, iPad or tablet. I could find YouTube videos that were just the length that I wanted to walk and that would keep me distracted so I could reach my goal easier.
There is no need to spend extra money on features you aren’t going to use. My motto is Keep It Simple and the treadmills below do just that, but at the same time give you everything you need.
The Xtera Fitness TR150 folding treadmill feature a large 16″ x 50″ walking/running surface that will accommodate up to 250 pounds. This is a larger surface than some treadmills so it will accommodate most users of any size and stride lengths. The smooth and quiet 2.25 HP motor powers the treadmill at speeds as high as 10 MPH.
If you want to intensify your workout you can take advantage of the 3 levels of manual incline. The cushioned deck provides maximum impact to keep your joints safe.
The 5″ LCD display keeps you informed of speed, incline, time, distance, calories and pulse. An integrated bookrack and accessory holder allow you to keep your reading material, iPad, remote control or anything else you want close by.
Wheels allow you to move it around and an easy-pull knob allow for easy folding.
One of the top reviewed treadmills on Amazon.
What I like about this treadmill is the large 9″ x 24″ desktop and the Bluetooth speaker. The desk area is large enough for a laptop or an iPad. My problem is I get bored so I would be able to walk longer with something to entertain me. 😉 The multifunctional display shows time, speed, distance, calories and steps.
The multi layer tread belt consists of five layers. The upper layer is a high-elastic rubber running belt. A second layer is for sound insulation with the bottom three layers offering shock absorption.
You can track your heart rate with the heart monitoring system. Hand pulse grip sensors are mounted on the side handlebars allowing you to keep track of your fitness goals.
It is important to keep hydrated while exercising. The two cup holders offer a place for water or you can use one of them for your cell phone.
Quiet enough to be used upstairs without bothering anyone on the lower floor and folds up small enough to store under some beds.
Amazon Audible Plus is a brand new all you can listen to membership that offers thousands of titles, including a vast array of audiobooks, podcasts, and originals that span genres, lengths and formats. Perfect for listening to while on your treadmill!
This treadmill is perfect for anyone who needs to take some extra precautions so they won’t fall. The thick and padded handrails sit along the top, middle and sides allowing you extra support.
The 2.5 peak horsepower motor allows you to walk between 0.6 mph up to 5 mph. The extra low running deck holds up to 295 pounds and makes stepping up on to the deck easier. There is also new shock absorption technology in the running deck that reduces the impact on your joints. Perfect for people with any kind of arthritis!
This unit will not fold, but it does have wheels on the front of it so you can move it from room to room for storage or a change of scenery.
There are not a lot of bells and whistles on this treadmill but it has everything you need. This makes the digital monitor simple and easy to operate. It will display calories, distance, time and speed, all the things you need to know and not a bunch of stuff that we can’t figure out how to operate anyway. A mode button allows you to personalize your workout goals during each session.
From what I can see this seems to be a perfect treadmill for people with arthritis!
This walking treadmill has extended safety handrails that appear very heavy duty, making it super safe to use. Perfect for someone older or anyone who has balance issues. The safety auxiliary belt will protect you from accidents while walking or running.
The LED display is super simple with only three modes. Displays time, calories, distance and speed. Cup holders will keep you hydrated and a tablet stand will keep you entertained.
There is the option to intensify your workout if you like by using one of the 3 slope adjustments.
A real time hand held heart monitoring system improves the quality of your workout. You can adjust your speed by monitoring your heart rate data fluctuations.
Six shock absorbing pads on the base directly contact the ground buffering the pressure. This treadmill is heavy duty being able to hold a maximum of 530 pounds.
This is a perfect treadmill for small spaces. It is lightweight and has wheels to make it easy to move. It folds up to a thickness of just 22″ so it can rest against any wall and can even fit into a closet.
The LED display will keep you informed of your speed, distance, time and calorie count. With the Fit Show app you can get detailed reports to improve your training. Comes with speed controls and 12 workout programs.
It still has some of the great features of a larger and more expensive model such as shock absorption technology and will support up to 220 pounds. You can even enjoy your favorite music with the integrated dual speakers. And there are two cup holders to keep you hydrated.
However, in order to gain the easier portability and smaller storage option the belt is a little narrower and the length of the belt a little shorter. It’s not much and will not make a difference to most people, but if you are a larger person this might not be the best model for you.
If space is an issue for you, you surely should consider the Zelus folding treadmill.
